monster project
to make this project i first started by wedging decently wet clay, until I started making 2 balls 1 big one and 1 smaller ball.i then proceeded to ad the wings to it by slipping it on then taking away the excess. i added the feet and the arm dots then I was ready. until I made a mistake I forgot to hollow out the heat and the bottom. so before I glazed I decided to make another one. i did the same exact steps as before but I hallowed it out from the bottom to make it visually appealing form all sides. i hallowed out the head and then proceeded to glaze.glazing was a much easier job because it wasn't super detailed and was super basic colors. so glazing was not even close to a problem. something that went well was the glazing and the sped of wich I made these. the glazing was super simple and was affective because it was all a solid color. the second easiest part was the sped of wich I made it because its literally 2 balls and wings score and slipped together. the hardest part was opening it out from the bottom on my first attempt because it was already leather hard and was a pain, not only that but the back plate fell off because I tried scoring it on already dry clay. what I'm gonna do different is I'm gonna try to pay attention to instructions next time.
releif piece revisited
to create this peice
coil building demostrating all types of coils.
To startr this project i first made a coil and turned it into a bowl. after I made the bowl I started fixing the imperfections by flattening areas and fixing rougher areas. i then proceeded to flatten out the inside to make it useabe. after this I then added the mandatory symbols such as spirals, spots, rainbows, twists, and braids. i then proceeded to glaze the whole thing, I chose the color scheme by what this project reminded me of. the swirls reminded me of a stary night sky and so I then made the color scheme more of a cooler color scheme. what went well was making the bowl originally because the bowl automatically formed after placing the coil down. another easy part was making g some of the shapes. the most difficult parts were making to twists and braids. because they kept falling apart or just blending in together. if I were to do this project again I would have put the vertical strips better on to the bowl. because it was really really hard to glaze there it took a lot of time to actually glaze correctly the glazing in my opinion was the hardest part because, there were many small pieces. and specific details that needed to be a certain color in my mind. i would do this project again but I would make the vertical strips better on there.
sgrafito
slab slump mold
to make this project i first made the flat square coaster by flattening out clay and carving it with a knife. later I used a ball point toll to make the stars. i then cleaned up the excess clay and booghers because there was excess that needed to be wiped. after cleaning it off I I sent it to get heated. what went well was the size of the stars because I thkn it fits the space very well. next time i do this project i think what I'm gonna change is I'm gonna make the stars more even, because some parts of the stars are bigger than others. its hard to tell when its the right size so ill practice.
